1、 First learn to observe works
We don’t need to be too strict about the source of inspiration. We can basically see it clearly. This is a picture of the source of inspiration I found on the petals.
The following three items attract me:
1. Color: orange and blue, simple and clean (easy to realize in vector drawing)
2. Composition: The structure of a two-sided, oblique building is easy to draw. If it is a medieval church, the drawing will become very complicated due to the large number of surface decorations.
3. Light shadow relationship: buildings in the sun can show a very strong three-dimensional sense, especially the obvious boundary between the light and the shadow. The use of shape can meet the contrast of this relationship.
Before starting to paint by hand, we should remind everyone that drawing pictures is not to completely simulate the real objects in the pictures, but to learn the spatial information it conveys: perspective, structure, color, light and shadow, etc. For example, in this case, the texture of the building surface in the photo can not be presented when we draw the vector.

2、 Start to draw the general structure
STEP 01
Open AI and create a new document. The size of this document can be arbitrary. I like to start with 1600px in length and width. If the drawing board needs to be adjusted, it can be expanded again.
Before starting to draw, first determine the perspective reference line of the object to be drawn. As the building is an existing object based on three-dimensional space, the rule of perspective needs to be taken into account in the drawing process. When you observe the original drawing of inspiration, you will find a three-dimensional axis based on the three-dimensional (here, we use X, Y, Z axes to express).
As long as the three axes are correctly located, the elements in the picture can be drawn through these three axes.
STEP 02
First draw the outer border, and the thickness of the border line is 0.25pt. Then draw the X, Y, Z axes we observed in the previous step with the straight line tool, select the three straight lines we drew, right-click, and select [Create Reference Line]. At this time, the three lines become highlighted in blue-green.
When drawing these three lines, you can use the original pictures for reference, or you can draw them directly by hand, not necessarily matching them completely. In addition, the reference line can be further edited, so be careful not to change its direction at will after drawing. It is better to lock it and unlock it for adjustment when necessary. So here we lock this layer, and then start drawing in the new layer.
STEP 03
Start to draw the large outline of the building by wireframe. Draw the outline first, and then fill the color. The thickness of the wireframe remains 0.25pt.
At this time, the perspective reference line should be flexibly used to establish the perspective principle according to the direction reference provided by the XYZ axis in the picture. If the rules of spatial perspective are not very clear, you can view relevant books, or imitate the spatial relationship provided by the original photo.
