How to use the tangled camera?

As a photographic tool, do you operate the camera skillfully? It depends on how often and how long you use it. In short, practice makes perfect!

The author has written a lot of tutorials before. To be honest, most of them were seen, heard and experienced in the process of playing photography for many years. Even the manufacturer has no regulations on how to play the camera.

I think there may be dozens of playing methods for a hundred people. After all, different bodies, different lenses, different conditions, and different environments. In addition to some technical errors that must be corrected, it is the absolute principle to shoot as you like.

Before I started writing, I also read many articles on the Internet about the bad habits of photography, some of which were too far fetched. In order to make a TOP stunt, I simply gathered ten.

In fact, many of the entanglements are due to habits, “Why am I different from the old mage? Am I really wrong?”. Not really.

Focus first or compose first?

This is a puzzle for many people.

The so-called first composition is to press the shutter half and move the camera to re compose after the focus is locked. The original intention of many people is to save time and speed, because the main body is locked when the shutter is half pressed, and there is no need to adjust the focus.

Of course, another reason is because of the habit. In the age when the auto focus system was still 9 o’clock, the focus coverage was too small. Some fuselage only had a cross focus in the center, so the center focus was faster and more accurate than other focuses.

Many old mages think that this order is wrong, and they should first compose the picture and then focus. The completion of composition means that the picture structure is determined, and then the focus is adjusted.

Of course, this work is mostly done automatically by the focusing system. Finally, press the shutter to finish shooting. The advantage of this operation is to avoid cosine error to the greatest extent.

The so-called cosine error means that after the camera focuses on the focus with the center, the actual focus will shift back, and the amount of the shift is proportional to the rotation angle of the re composition.

In the process of re composition, it is difficult to ensure that the body does not shake and the head does not move back and forth. The direct result is that the focus in the picture is shifted.

The village head thinks that in this issue, it depends on the photographer himself, and objective factors also need to be considered. For example, when shooting with a macro lens and a large aperture lens, even a small movement will cause defocusing, so it is safer to first compose and then focus.

The performance of the fuselage should also be taken into account. For example, the entry-level fuselage, the focusing system is too bad, and you don’t need to use anything at the midpoint. Especially with a telephoto lens, the success rate of non midpoint focusing is very low. You can only predict first, then focus, and finally compose the picture.

Aperture priority or shutter priority?

To be exact, this question was a hot topic in the photography industry in the late 1970s. Unexpectedly, there are still people talking about it now. Aperture priority means that the photographer determines the aperture size and the camera calculates the corresponding shutter speed.

On the contrary, the aperture range depends on the lens, and the shutter speed range depends on the body (referring to the focal plane shutter).

There is a saying that aperture priority is easier to control the depth of field, and shutter priority is easier to capture dynamic scenes. It is estimated that many Xiaobai cannot understand. I don’t know that we noticed a detail. When the aperture is given priority, the shutter is infinitely adjusted. When the shutter is given priority, the aperture and shutter are all adjusted at 1/3 gear, but there is a quantization error.

In the opinion of the village head, the photographer should keep the main variables in his own hands and hand over the tedious exposure calculation to the camera. Don’t try full manual without some skill. You can’t play with it.

When shooting static pictures, aperture priority is convenient. There is little to think about in the brain. When shooting dynamic pictures, shutter priority is easy to judge the success rate.

Left eye or right eye?

On the Internet, there are many explanations for the question of “which eye should be used for framing”. Some people say that it has something to do with being left-handed or not, and others say that it has something to do with the distance between the eyes. In short, there are many answers. Some people give a confident answer: the right eye, according to their own habits and even the images in the manufacturer’s advertising.

Many years ago, when I was working in the media, I talked with Canon engineers about this problem. In fact, there is no so-called right eye design for SLR.

The left eye or the right eye depends entirely on personal habits, which is exactly the dominant eye. From a physiological point of view, one of the two eyes of a person is the master eye. The brain gives priority to the things observed by the master eye. The master eye may be either the left eye or the right eye.

The dominant eye gets more nutrition due to excessive exercise, so it develops better than the other eye. When the main eye observes the viewfinder, the picture is clear and the thinking is smooth, while the other eye feels that the viewfinder is fuzzy and cannot see the edge of the viewfinder, which has a great impact on the composition.

Someone once asked why photographers used to take pictures of themselves with their right eyes. On the one hand, the magnification of the camera viewfinder is 1:1, and there is no parallax between the two eyes, so you don’t need to close the other eye when taking pictures.

On the other hand, if you use your left eye to view, the camera will block your face, so how can you be handsome.

Back screen or shoulder screen?

This topic has never been mentioned before. Recently, someone asked the village head one after another that the 77D shoulder screen was really necessary? So come out and say.

It was first said that the purpose of the shoulder screen is to save electricity. In this way, even the display screen can be neutered, which saves more power.

For any old player, it has become a habit to obtain parameter information from the shoulder screen. In the era of the film machine, there is no display screen on the back. The parameters are all based on the shoulder screen. With the help of the wheel and buttons, the settings can be completed very quickly (needless to say). It is also convenient to monitor at any time when taking a blind shot.

Of course, manufacturers are bad at using the shoulder screen to distinguish grades. Without the shoulder screen, they are classified as entry-level. In fact, whether there is a shoulder screen or not should not be taken into consideration when you choose a model.

The village head thinks that if you ask around whether the shoulder screen is useful, it is basically useless. Just like when you first come into contact with western food, you can eat steak with chopsticks.
